Royce Austin Obituary (1927 - 2023)

William "Royce" Austin departed this life, peacefully, on April 15, 2023, at 96 years of age. Royce was born on March 3, 1927, in Crockett County, to Edward Werner and Mary Cooke Austin. He graduated from Alamo High School and attended the University of Tennessee at Martin until he was drafted into the Army. As a WWII veteran he served in the European Theater during his time in the service. Royce was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Freddie Phillips Austin; son, William Royce Austin Jr; daughter-in-law, Leigh Ingram Kail. He is survived by his sons Steve Austin (Pam) of Jackson, TN, Phillip Kail (Sybil) of Alamo, TN, and Jimmy Neal Kail of Alamo, TN. He leaves his grandchildren, Jessica Torres (Drew), Kyle Austin, Cody Kail (Anna), Kelly Piatt (Bret), Morgan Stroud (Jesse), Maddie Clark (TJ), and nine great grandchildren. The family will receive visitors on April 18, 2023, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Alamo Church of Christ with services to follow. Bobby Rawson will officiate In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Crockett County Veterans Memorial Fund or the charity of your choice. Pallbearers for the service will be Kyle Austin, Cody Kail, Bret Piatt, Jesse Stroud, TJ Clark, and Cash Piatt. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Cowan and Tony Austin. There are no gallery images.
