Reese Barler Obituary (2007 - 2023)

Reese Erin Barker, Age 16, daughter of David and Heather Barker, was born on March 1, 2007, in Union City, Tennessee. Reese's young life was taken far too soon on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Reese was an active member of First Baptist Church in Martin, Tn, where she was a member of their youth group, vacation Bible school staff, Camp 1031 volunteer, and so much more! Reese was a Junior at Crockett County High School in Alamo, Tn. She was a member of the Lady Cavalier Softball Team, and a member of the Crockett County Cavalier Football team as their manager. Her love for sports was quite obvious, and when you saw her on the football field every Friday night, it definitely showed! Reese was actively involved in her school's FCCLA program; she was eventually named the Tennessee Vice-President of Individual Development for 2023-2024 school year. She poured everything she had into this amazing program, and it truly made her who she is today. She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents; Gloria Joyce Dorris, Joe Ray Bates, Marth Lynn Crocker Bates, Aaron and Alberta Barker, Mary Darlene Barker, James Allen Playter. She is survived by her parents, David A. and Heather B. Barker (of Humboldt); an older sister, Maggie Joyner Barker (of Humboldt), a younger brother, Roman Bates Barker (of Humboldt); her grandparents, Steve and Amy Bates (of Martin), David and Carol Barker (of Dresden), and Doug and Pam Stephenson (of Jackson, Tn). Reese is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the Crockett County High School Gymnasium. There will be an additional visitation on Thursday, August 17, at the First Baptist Church in Martin, TN, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at 1:00 pm. Reese will be laid to rest at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden, TN, directly following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to: 1.
