Patricia "Pat" Nell Pate Obituary (1939

Funeral services for Mrs. Pat Pate will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Ronk Funeral Home with Randy Carter officiating. Interment will be in the Alamo Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00PM - 3:00PM. There will be a reception following the burial at Rebecca's Event Place next door to the funeral home. Patricia Nell Pate, 76, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on Thursday, April 28, at the Tennessee Veterans Home in Humboldt. Mrs. Pate was born on October 1, 1939 to John Harris and Wilma Garrett in Brownsville, Tennessee. Pat enjoyed playing golf, running the family ice company, working in her flowerbeds and anything that let her be outside in the sunshine. In 2001 she suffered a stroke. She did not let this keep her from living life to the fullest. Pat continued to live independently, doing most everything for herself with the continuous support of her two loving daughters, Tammie and Judy and devoted sister, Brenda. No matter where she landed in life, she swept in with her big heart and created a space where she could love and care for everyone around here. Her greatest attribute was the ability to make everyone feel welcome, appreciated and cared for. People of all ages fell in love with her strong will and fighting spirit. She was a true inspiration to those around her. She was preceded in death by her husband, William David Pate, son, James David Pate and brother, David Garrett. She is survived by daughters Tammie (Bubba) Argo and Judy (John) Emison of Alamo, Brother, Billy Garrett, Sisters, Brenda Kendrick, Phyllis Cobb, Francis Wilson and Carolyn Brown. Grandchildren, Pate (Susie) Randall, Laura (Nathan) Bell, Corey (Kirstin) Harper, Ivy Roberts and Celeste Pate. Great Grandchildren, Collyn Harper and George and Camille Randall. The family would like to thank the many friends and care givers who have loved and supported her through out the past 15 years. A special thanks to the caring staff at the Tennessee Veterans Home in Humboldt. In lieu of flowers and in honor of her giving spirit, the family ask that you do as Pat Pate would do and perform an act of kindness by feeding someone hungry, providing for someone in need, ask how someone is and mean it, be a positive influence and impact someone's life for the better.
