Nathan Ray Peterson

–

Alamo, Tennessee

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nathan Ray Peterson, of Alamo, Tennessee, on August 26, 2026. Born on August 24, 1977 in Jackson, TN, Nathan was known as a loving, outstanding man by many who knew him. A skilled carpenter by trade, Nathan found joy in the simplicity and purpose of his work, which was a testament to his dedication and love for craftsmanship. A man of many hobbies, Nathan enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, and collecting various items like rocks, old bottles, and coins. His love for the outdoors was unparalleled, and he spent most of his young life living in Wytheville, Virginia before moving back to Crockett County. He had a love for all kinds of music but especially old rock & roll and didn't mind sharing and singing to everyone he met.

The words of Henry David Thoreau resonate with the life Nathan lived, "Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after." Nathan's pursuit of outdoor hobbies was not just about the objects he collected or the fish he caught, but about the peaceful solitude and reflection that nature offered him.

Nathan is survived by his parents, Danny Peterson and Emily Winfrey; his children Caitlyn Poe (Colby) and Keras Colvett (Jacob); his siblings Shannon Carter, Mallie Winfrey, Chelsea Denton (Alex), Blake Peterson (Jennifer), and Corey Peterson (Lauren); and his grandchildren Ariel Peterson, Lucy Colvett, Samuel Poe, and Elliot Poe. He is also survived by his grandmothers Peggy Peterson and Jeanetta Geno. He is preceded in death by his grandparents William Peterson, Myra Jane Yearwood, Jake Yearwood, and Bill Hudson.

Cremation services are under the direction of Ronk Funeral Home, and a memorial service to honor Nathan's life will be held at a later date. "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die," Thomas Campbell once wrote, and Nathan will forever live on in the hearts and memories of those who loved him. We encourage friends and family to share their memories and upload photos of Nathan to his memorial page, celebrating the life of this loving man.
