Marjorie N. Bates

Marjorie Bates passed away at her home on June 28, 2013 surrounded by her family and friends at the age of 86. She was born on May 31, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. (Jay) and Hester Agee Greene; three half-brothers, Harold, B.M., and Gerald Greene.
She is survived by her husband of 67 1/2 years, Lester Martin Bates; three children, Olivia (Randall) Chandler of Germantown, TN, Barry (June) Bates of Ripley, TN, and Richard (Patty) Bates of Memphis, TN; seven grandchildren, Traci (Joey) Ing of Dyersburg, TN, Rand (Beth) Chandler of Seattle, WA, Alecia (Mark) Warren of Bells, TN, Cathy (Joe Bob) King of Memphis, TN, Chris (Michelle) Bates of Memphis, TN, Nick (Maria) Bates, Olive Branch, MS, Daniel Bates of Memphis, TN; one step-grandson, Curtis McLemore of Ripley, TN; four great-grandchildren, Duncan and Gunnar Ing of Dyersburg, TN, Elle and Owen Chandler of Seattle, WA and three step great-grandchildren, Conner, Camdyn and Joseph McLemore of Ripley, TN; brother, Mahlon (Nadine) Greene.
She was a faithful member of Maury City Church of Christ. She was also Co-Owner of City Drug Company for 35 years. Visitation will be held at Ronk Funeral Home Saturday, June 29, 2013 5-8 pm. Funeral service for Mrs. Bates will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Maury City Church of Christ with Stephen Sutton and Duncan Ing officiating.
