Alamo, Tennessee
Linda Tomlinson Burrow passed away peacefully on March 14,
2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Crockett County, TN, on July 27, 1940, to her
parents John Hall Tomlinson and Mary Etta Williams. The
family moved to Halls when she was six-years-old. She
graduated from Halls High School and then moved to Memphis
to begin a lifelong career in health care. From Baptist Memorial
Hospital to Semmes Murphey Clinic she was a stickler for detail
and perfection. Although she had no formal, medical education
she embodied the role of nurse. With an empathetic and caring
spirit she served her patients fully for twenty three years as
assistant to William M. Adams, Jr., M.D.
Linda returned to her home town of Halls after many years in
Memphis. She quickly adapted to small-town life and became
an avid friend and volunteer. She was as generous as the day is
long and loved to shower others with her many gifts and talents.
She had a knack for cooking and an artful hand with needle and
thread. She willingly gave her time in service to Friends of the
Library, Le Bonheur, the Lauderdale Election Commission and
the Veterans' Museum and she was an active member of the First
United Methodist Church of Halls. Perhaps she will particularly
be remembered for her keen sense of style and grace. No one
could look or wear it like Linda did. She was beautiful both
inside and out.
She was a dedicated wife and mother and was married to her
husband, Joe Franklin Burrow, for fifty two years. She is
preceded in death by her beloved son, "Drew" Joseph Andrew
Burrow, and her brother, John Douglas Tomlinson , and survived
by her daughter, Elizabeth Burrow Pletz (Bart Ziegenhorn). She
had four grandchildren whom she adored, Manning Pletz, III,
Bailey Pletz, Olivia Pletz and Sam Pletz. She also leaves behind
two sisters, Sue Tomlinson Vaden and Monnie Tomlinson
Puckett, and a sister-in-law, Tamea Tomlinson.
A graveside service will take place on Friday, March 18, 2016, at
11:00 o'clock at Floyd's Chapel-Old Field Cemetery, 37 Davis Road,
Friendship, TN. 38034.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church
of Halls, TN, French Camp Academy in French Camp, MS,
Veterans' Museum of Halls and Stax Music Academy, or the
charity of one's choice.
Please add your address to the registry book per the family's request.
