Harvey Moore Dunavant Obituary (1926

Funeral services for Mr. Harvey Moore Dunavant, 89, will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Crockett Mills First Christian Church with Tom Stolarik and Travis Smith officiating. Mr. Dunavant was born on August 14, 1926, to the late Harry and Evelyn Moore Dunavant. He graduated from Hamlett Robertson High School and entered the US Navy shortly thereafter, where he served on the USS Lake Champlain. After his discharge, he married his sweetheart Latane Revelle, and they made their home in Crockett Mills for the 65 years that they were married. Mr. Dunavant was a farmer and a carpenter. He built many homes in Crockett and surrounding counties. He was a faithful member of Crockett Mills First Christian Church. He was an ardent supporter of the Hamlett Robertson School where he served on the school board for many years. He was a devoted son, husband and father. Mr. Dunavant was preceded in death by his wife, Latane Revelle Dunavant; his children, Mona Rose Dunavant and Ronald Harvey Dunavant; his brother, Franklin Dunavant. Surviving relatives are his daughters, Nell Dunavant Fowlkes and husband BJ of Nokomis, Florida; Donna Dunavant Guffey and husband David of Golden, Colorado, Dana Dunavant Branch and husband Ronnie of Crockett Mills; he leaves behind ten grandchildren, Jason Dunavant, Mark Dunavant, Tim Dunavant, Amanda Harland, Ben Fowlkes, Zachery Smith, Caleb Smith, Abby Smith, Ronnie R. Branch and Carrie Beth Branch; four great grandchildren, Drew Harland, David Dunavant, Willa Fowlkes and Josephine Fowlkes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crockett Mills Cemetery Fund c/o Bank of Crockett Mills. Pallbearers for the service will be Roger Ballard, Ronnie R. Branch, Ronnie W. Branch, Mark Dunavant, Tim Dunavant, B.J. Fowlkes, Danny Hutchison, and Caleb Smith.
