Garner Mack Goode

–

Alamo, Tennessee

Garner "Mack" Goode Jr., along with his twin sister Mary Maxine, was born on June 27, 1935 to Garner Mack Goode and Mary Baker Goode. Mack was an active member of the Alamo Church of Christ. He worked at the Bank of Alamo for 43 years where he served as Director, President and CEO. Mack owned and farmed over 900 acres of land, which included a 100-year old family farm. He was an avid hunter, golfer, fisherman, and enjoyed traveling and participating in politics. Mack was a community servant, serving as a member of the Alamo Fire Department for 26 years, Rescue Squad for 32 years, and Crockett Emergency Management. He served in the National Guard, on the Alamo City Board of Education, Crockett County Board of Education, Alamo City Alderman, and a member of the Rotary Club and Jaycees.

Following Mack's retirement from the Bank of Alamo, he wanted to "give back" to the community which had given to him so many years. He and Mary June formed the Mack and Mary June Goode Special Needs Fund, providing assistance to children and their families.

Mack served as Chairman and Board member of the Gibson Electric Co-Op Board of Trustees, TN Bankers Association, West TN Industrial Association, and Northwest TN Development.

Mack was preceded in death by his parents, Garner and Mary, and his twin sister, Maxine. He passionately loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mack leaves the "love of his life", Mary June, to whom he was married for 60 years and often stated he had loved her since she was 12 years old. Surviving children are Reecha Goode Black and Bobby Mack (Melinda) Goode, and beloved grandchildren, Brandi (Rick) Wilson, Garner Mack (Rachel) Goode, Jenna (Sam) Barry, Crockett (Amy) Goode, and Jessie Black. The greatest blessing of his later years was spending time with his great grandchildren, Lee, Mary Reece, and Luke Wilson, Maclyn Rae Barry, Harper June Goode, and looked forward to the arrival of Garner Mack Goode IV, in April.
