Elisabeth Greenway

–

Alamo, Tennessee

Elisabeth Lee Greenway, born October 11, 1959 in Jackson, Tennessee, blessed the world with her joyful spirit, boundless love, and an unrivaled zest for life. Known for her generosity, she possessed a heart that knew no limits in embracing others. A retired teacher from Jackson Christian School, Elisabeth's life was a testament to service and love for learning. Her passion for education went beyond the classroom, nurturing not just intellect but also character in her students. In addition to teaching at JCS, she also taught at Alamo Elementary School and Maury City Elementary school. Elisabeth went home to her Lord and Savior on Christmas Eve 2025 during the most beautiful sunset surrounded by her loved ones.
Elisabeth was a woman of many passions. Foremost among these was her devotion to her family and friends. Together with her beloved husband Steve, they created a home that was not just a house, but a haven of warmth, laughter, and love. Her house was a magical place, transformed into a Christmas wonderland during the holidays, and adorned with decorations for every occasion. A lover of nature, Elisabeth found beauty in butterflies and joy in the company of her rescued dogs. Her commitment to helping Steve scout cotton at Greenway Scouting Service, her love for watching her grandchildren's sports games, and her support for Steve's pickleball matches were windows into her selfless and loving soul. Elisabeth also had a taste for delicious treats, her chocolate oatmeal cookies being a favorite among all who knew her.

Elisabeth is survived by her mother Eldon Anne Parlow; her husband Steve Greenway; her children, Andrea (Brian) Smith, Alex (Kaitlyn) Greenway; her grandchildren, Hartley, Gentry, and Henry Smith; her sisters, Anne (Chuck) Avery and Leslie Faulkner; her brother, Boone (Cindy) Parlow; and her sister-in-law Reida (Tommy) Sherrod. She is preceded in death by her father Wayne Parlow, her nephew Nick Hall, her niece Kara Hall, and her father and mother-in-law, Wallace and Carolyn Greenway.

A service to celebrate Elisabeth's life will be held at Maury City Church of Christ, 6792 Tennessee 88, Friendship, Tennessee, 38034 on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 2:00pm. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 am until the time of service.
