David "Sammy" Cotten

–

Alamo, Tennessee

David Samual Cotten, affectionately known as “Sammy,” was born on March 8, 1952, and passed away on September 10, 2025, at the age of 73.

Sammy spent much of his life working as a cotton farmer and at the cotton gin, where his dedication and strong work ethic earned him the respect of his peers and community. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he found joy in teaching his children to appreciate these traditions. Later in life, he and his beloved wife, Judy, shared many years together as team drivers, traveling across the United States and Canada, creating countless memories along the way. He also loved spending time at the lake, where he found peace and happiness with family and friends.

He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his steadfast character, and the legacy of love and commitment he leaves behind.

Sammy is survived by his son, David Samuel Cotten, Jr.; stepsons, Jamie Moore (Wendy) and Justin Moore (Summar); daughters, Bethany Glass (David) and Amy Sullivan (Lee); brothers, Gene Cotten and Tommy Cotten (Lisa); and sister, Betty Perry (Danny). He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Lauren Cotten, Lyndsey Paschall, Anne North, Trey Sullivan, Leah Kate Sullivan, and Bailey Buckner; step-grandchildren, River Moore, Kane Moore, Keegan Moore, Clara Glass, and Mollie Glass; and four great-grandchildren who brought him much joy.

In addition to his parents, Joe & Anne Webb Cotten, Sammy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Judy Cotten.

Visitation for Mr. Cotten will be held on Saturday, September 13, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Ronk Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronk Funeral Home, conducted by Ms. Suzie Riley. Burial will follow in Oakview Memorial Park Cemetery.
