Alamo, Tennessee
On March 24, 2024, the world said goodbye to a truly remarkable man, Alfred Othell Scott. Born on September 22, 1932, in Ridgely, Tennessee, Alfred lived a life marked by dedication, talent, love, and support. He was a deeply committed husband, father, and grandfather, cherishing his family above all else. His marriage to his beloved wife, Frances, was a testament to his unwavering love and commitment, lasting an incredible 71 years.
Alfred was a talented diesel mechanic, dedicating many years of his life to Cummins. After leaving Cummins he worked for Colonial Rubber Works for 17 years before moving to the Arcadin Co, where he further honed his skills. His dedication to his work was evident in his every action, mirroring the words of Thomas Edison, "The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary." In his free time, Alfred enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding motorcycles, hobbies that showcased his love for the great outdoors and life's simple pleasures. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, as he was an active member of the Three Way Baptist Church for many years.
Alfred was a man devoted to his family. Married to Frances for a remarkable 71 years, their love story is one for the ages. He was a loving father to his daughter, Phyllis (Terry) Pigue, a supportive brother to Sandra (Richard) Shipley, and an adoring grandfather to Terri Dawn (Brayden) Pigue and great-grandfather to Stockton Tucker Peevyhouse and Gemma Dawn Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Edna Scott; brothers Walter Scott, Billy Bramlett, Paul Bramlett, Doyle Cronan, James Cronan; and sisters Joy Hoffmister and Alice Richardson and his stepmother Annie Sue Scott, who played a big and vital role in his life.
Visitation will be held at Ronk Funeral Home on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 11:00 until 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery in Crockett Mills, TN.

In keeping with Alfred's love for sharing stories and making memories, we encourage you to leave your own memories of him and upload photos to the memorial page. As we remember Alfred, let us reflect on his dedication, the love he gave, and the lives he touched. In the words of Leo Buscaglia, "Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." Alfred embodied these acts of caring in every aspect of his life, and he will be deeply missed.
