John Griffin

–

Gadsden, Tennessee

John William Griffin, known to some as Johnny, was born on September 6, 1944, in Bells, TN, and passed away on September 24, 2026. John was a lifelong resident of Gadsden, Tennessee, a longstanding member of Center Community Church, and a proud member of our community. He held a long and fulfilling career as an Operational Manager at Estes Truck Line before his retirement. John was a man of many passions, but he held a special love for bird hunting, the companionship of bird dogs, the serenity of a good fishing trip, and the timeless beauty of classic cars.

John's personality could light up any room; he was known for his jovial spirit, his open-heartedness, and his ever-present smile. He was a proud father, but his favorite title was Pop to his grandchildren. John found great joy in his family, and his love for them was evident in his interactions. His life was a testament to his deep love for his wife of 62 years, Diane Griffin; his children, Jan (Danny) Gagnon and Alan (Amanda) Griffin; his cherished grandchildren, Tera (Jonathan) Stephens, Drew (Ashton) Griffin, Samuel Griffin, Rebekah Griffin, Dalton Whitehead; and his great-grandchildren, Karleigh Cosby, Jon Wyatt Stephens, Emery Stephens, and Leland Griffin. He is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Mayfield and Joyce (Albert) Overton, as well as his brother, Troy (Mary Jo) Griffin. John was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Myrtice Griffin, and his brother, Tony Griffin.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 12:00 pm at Ronk Funeral Home, located at 106 South Bells Street, Alamo, Tennessee, 38001. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the same location. As we gather to honor John's life and legacy, we encourage you to share your favorite memories and photos of him on the memorial page. John's memory will forever be kept alive in the stories we share, the love we remember, and the laughter that his life brought.
